If the Germans can be proud of something then it will be because of their well-developed sense for a romantic Christmas time full of traditions and their love for the smallest of details. This special character is very unique in the world. German Christmas Fairs are famous in the entire world. That’s not surprising because who doesn’t like putting winter clothes on, strolling through a Christmas fair with friends, family or partner, holding their hands, smelling the sweet and tempting aromas of the Christmas food, hearing nice but, of course, a little bit kitschy music booming from the loudspeakers, and drinking some delicious mulled wine, which certainly also exists without alcohol, for warming yourself in the cold winter temperatures. Hearing all this, our heart starts beating faster, right? But drinking mulled wine isn’t very common in a lot of countries, so for example a Spaniard could be react very strangely at people heating up their wine. But each culture is different and celebrates Christmas with its own traditions and rituals. That’s exactly why we should love the cultural diversity.

Like every year, Berlin will pamper its citizens and visitors from all over Germany and the entire world with uncountable Christmas fairs spread out through the city. Berlin will be transformed once again into an authentic Christmas winter paradise. The most special thing is that all those fairs are celebrated at historical important places in the most spectacular of sceneries. So for example, until the beginning of January you have the possibility to stroll along the traditional Christmas fair next to the Gedächnitskirche (Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church) where you can find more than 100 different stands with numerous ideas for Christmas presents such as decorations, toys or delicious almonds, and variations of mulled wine. Or what about some Christmas feeling in front of the Schloss Charlottenburg (Charlottenburg Palace)? More than 250 international Christmas stands give the whole palace and the park area a very special atmosphere. Despite these culinary highlights, they will offer you special events and guided tours through the palace. At the Henriettenplatz am Kurfürstendamm you will find a historic craftwork Christmas fair where you can see the most creative creations of glassworks and ceramics etc. As well in the KPM Welt your eyes will be get illuminated, because in the antique porcelain factory of Berlin your belly will be get pampered with the most delicious pralines and Christmas cakes and of course, a cup of mulled wine shouldn’t be missed. The different amazing products of porcelain are another highlight of this fair. Other Christmas fairs you should visit are at the Gendarmenmarkt, Alexanderplatz or the fair in front of the Rotes Rathaus (Berlin’s townhall)

Everywhere you see, you find a little enchanting Christmas fair. This tradition dates back to the year 1529, when the first fairs were celebrated in the old town of Berlin. Of course, the character and style of the fair has changed during history, but it is still very authentic.

What? You still aren’t in the mood for Christmas? That has to be changed! Put on your winter clothes and discover Christmas time in Germany’s capital. Rent the best Berlin apartments and enjoy economic and comfortable accommodation.

Despite the historic events, the Germans can be proud of their country. Germany is the country of poets, composers and philosophers. Throughout hte history its culture has been enriched by great masters such as Goethe, Schiller, Bach or Lessing. His extensive and broad cultural and artistic heritage is famous throughout the world. But we should not forget a very important factor. Schland, as the Germans affectionately call their country, is also the country of Currywurst (a sort of sausage with curry sauce), which today is an indispensable part of the Germanic culture. Now Berlin has opened the first museum of Currywurst in Germany. Are you hungry?

Currywurst berlin

This year Berlin does not only celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall, but also the 60th birthday of the Currywurst. Herta Heuwer was the first person who served in her small stall in Charlottenburg fried sausages with a special tomato sauce, wit powder curry and other mysterious ingredients. Soon this little snack became a real bestseller. What once was a small strett stall, baceme suddenly into a complex industry. Today, this idea would have been, without doubt, the perfect solution to get out of the heavy financial crisis.

In August the first Currywurst Museum was opened in Germany. This striking museum is just 100 meters from Checkpoint Charlie. Here you’ll discover the history of this delicious food. Of course, the museum refused other possible origins of the Currywurst, which say that it was invented in Hamburg or in the Ruhrgebiet. According to the museum director and the Berliners, all these are only false rumors. Discover the world of this sausage and how you should eat it! As you can see, the German capital offers another spectacular museum with film screenings and a host of interactive activities.

In Germany people eat more than 800 million Currywurst per year, and approximately 70 million are consumed in Berlin. You can eat it in countless different versions, starting with the normal Fritfen Currywurst (with chips) in a street stall, to the finest restaurants, wich serves the Currywurst with gold leaf and champagne. It seems that there are no limits in terms of creativity and culinary imagination.

‘Ik bin ain Berliner’, Kennedy’s historic phrase could be changed a bit in honor of the Currywurst. Discover the most delicious sousoges and its museum. Rent Apartments in Berlin and have a pleasant stay.

Music, great for making love to

We all know that music plays a great influence in our lives. The nicest melodies do not only accompany us in difficult, sad, stressful or happy situations, but the music exercises an important role when making love. Come on, confess! Sure you have a favorite song or a special CD for the most intimate moments to share with your partner, or with more people, who knows…. music is simply great for making love to.

making-love-to-music

It doesn’t matter which musical preference you have, but several studies have shown that music during lovemaking increases the happiness hormone production. But what kind of music should I choose to have a better orgasm? Maybe something hard like Rammstein or Metallica, or romantic music such as Buena Vista Social Club? Whether they are sweating rockers, or charming Cuban grandparents, everyone would have to rely on their own musical tastes and instincts for choosing good music.

However, we can also take a look to some studies and theories. The Psychologist and neuroscientist Daniel Levitin of McGill University in Montreal has studied the supernatural powers of music whilst making love, in a study called Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll. The study shows that music causes some dopamine (the hormone of hapiness) stimulation. Music activates specific parts of the brain that are also responsible for many body reactions such as sweating, sexual excitement or “butterflies in the stomach”. Because of this, it is not strange that listening to music while making love influences our hormonal functions.

The American scientist has even investigated about successful selection of music. According to the results, R n’ B, soul and classical music have a certain advantage. Soul pioneers like Barry White and Marvin Gaye were responsible for some increase in the birth rate – especially in the 60s. But also the French composer Claude Debussy has embellished many erotic moments. As you can see, you don’t need to play music with obvious messages such as the rapper 50 Cent with his “I’ll take you to the candy shop, I’ll let you lick the lollipop”.

Have you found the perfect album for a few passionate hours? Not yet? Then, visit the German capital and discover the incredible music scene of this city. A trip can be the best opportunity to test this mysterious combination of sex and music. Rent the best apartments in Berlin and enjoy comfortable and affordable accommodation. The sexy side of Berlin is waiting for you!

Nowadays nudism is an essential part of our society. Most people live this style of life in a very liberal way and each day they discover a new form of nudism. They just enjoy the harmony of their body and soul with the beautiful nature. But one thing is very clear: nudism isn’t only healthy for us, but also for the environment. Why don’t you join the nudism movement and participate in fighting against the alarming increase in global warming?

nudism-climate-change

But why is going around without any clothes on so eco-friendly? Let’s start with the high energy costs of air conditioning. In summer the temperatures don’t only rise in southern Europe, but as well in the northern countries. While the thermometer is almost exploding, there seems to be only one solution for most of the sweating people: air-conditioning. But unfortunately they don’t think about the immense costs of electricity and energy, which are consumed for having only a few cool hours. However, the nudists are conscious of these high energy costs, so they just take off some their clothes or they get completely naked. In that way they don’t only feel free, they also refresh themselves under those hot circumstances. If more people decided to take of their clothes, they wouldn’t only save a lot of money, but as well they would fight more successfully against the climate change.

And what else could we save by going naked? Sure, the huge amount of laundries we have to do. With the fact that nudists get dressed very rarely, they don’t have to wash their clothes so much as the others do. You probably can imagine the huge saving of energy. But for giving you a better idea, here are some facts and numbers: for each 60º laundry a normal washing machine needs more or less than 100 litres of water and 1-2 KW of energy. If you calculate this for each household for a long term, you will be very shocked. So, considering the energy costs, nudists have a real advantage.

With good reason nudism is also called naturism. Nudists are more conscious about nature and they experience the environment in a completely different way. Walking naked through the woods, hiking through the mountains without any clothes, or cruising naked by bike through the wonderful landscape are just indescribable experiences which make us aware of our responsibility towards nature.

Especially nowadays many environmental organizations carry out different campaigns for drawing the public’s attention to the alarming increase of global warming. In this way, more than 600 people got naked in the middle of the cold Alps for showing the world the naked truth of the planet’s pollution.

Berlin is without any doubt one of the European capitals of nudism. The German capital isn’t only considered a tolerant and open minded city, but it’s as well the very centre of many kinds of naturism. Discover this special and eco-friendly side of this amazing cosmopolitan city! Rent the best apartments in Berlin and enjoy comfortable and cheap accommodation.

Many people talk about friendship with benefits, but… Is it really a good idea? Is it possible to combine friendship and sex without one falls in love or the relationship finishes in a disaster? For some it may seem like an ideal relationship: less stressful than a commitment, but deeper than a one-night stand. What about you? Do you dare?

Sex and Friendship

A study conducted by the Michigan State University (the first study in this field) has revealed that the friend with benefits keep as many difficulties as the love relationships, contrary to what people use to think . These relationships tend to have low levels of passion, and instead aroused the same fears as the amatory relations: fear of feeling in love, fear of losing the partner, fear of having a deception, a betrayal, etc.

The same study found that these kinds of friendships have a great handicap: the opening relation to each other is blocked when sex occurs. Two friends that before could talk about everything, now they have a taboo topic: their relationship. Nevertheless, even 60% of the population admits they have had an affair like this.

But what happens over time? Normally, it is strange that this kind of relationship ends in romance. Only one of every ten couples like this prospers. One out of three, leave aside the sex and continues with a normal friendship and one out of four, breaks both the friendship and the sexual relation. The rest tends to continue its friendly relations with benefits.

Normally, the people who engage in this type of look for an average term between the commitment and the affair, which does not take them to the total tie, but it makes them feel safe. In psychological terms the FWB are more like a friendship than like a romance. According to the same study, friends with benefits are in the midst of a scale where the passion and the commitment are at their lowest index. Thus, both components feel that their friendship goes into an uncertain territory and that something is going wrong.

While on the other hand, the sex between friends has fascinating moments. Who would know you better than your best friend? If you know how to control the situation, this relationship can become even idyllic. You just have to understand that the everyone’s sexual life belongs to the kingdom of freedom and one has to respect it.

Seize the weekend to travel to the city of sex, friendship and tolerance. No matter who accompanies you: with your friends, with a friend with benefits, with your couple… The important thing is to share good times with people you love. Rent Apartments in Berlin to get a cheap and comfortable stay.

Society has changed tremendously over the years and and has now nothing to do with the time of our grandparents and great grandparents. Whereas 80 years ago everybody thought that the women would become pregnant after having looked deeply into a man’s eyes, nowadays everyone, young or adult, are real experts regarding sex, and they enjoy total sexual freedom. What before meant a commitment for the rest of your life, has today turned into a one-night stand. So, commitment or a one-night stand, what do you prefer?

one-night-stands

It seems that the one-night stands are in fashion. If you are single and you want to have some fun, you just have go to a pub or nightclub and meet somebody. More and more people go out to party with the goal of having sex. We can define today’s world as an ephemeral culture: everybody does what they want. This is the lifestyle we have adopted. Most people are very informal and focus on the fun. Even the appearance of potential candidates is an increasingly minor role. Conventional appointments are replaced by one-night stands, because they are more much easier than traditional dating: you don’t bring flowers or talk about your hobbies, or spend much money on a romantic dinner. When both parties feel a good vibe and agree to a one night stand, ¡E voilà!

Another curiosity is how different languages denominate the concept of “sex without commitment”. The different terms in each language can tell us a lot about every society’s views about sex without commitment. If we start with the passionate Italians we will see that they are very open-minded people as they use the expression “botta e via ” (in and out). English people are a bit more reserved and talk about the famous one-night-stand. The Germans seem to be even more conservative and they have no particular word and therefore take advantage of the English expression. If we commit infidelity, the Polish speak about moralniak ( “moral hangover”), the German’s say Seitensprung (”jump to other side”), the French about a coup d’un soir or a sex plan and the British dramatize it a bit with the words walk of shame. Anyway, we can see that every culture and every country has its own way of naming these trends in sexual attitudes.

It doesn’t matter if you prefer a commitment or a one-night stand, in Berlin you can get what you want. To have a perfect and cheap accommodation rent apartments in Berlin and remember what Woody Allen once said: “Sex without love is an empty experience, but, as empty experiences go, it’s one of the best“.

Flashmobs around the world
icon1 berlinblogger | icon2 Berlin | icon4 08 20th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

You don’t want to spend any more boring holidays. Do you want to escape from your everyday life, even if it were just for a moment? Well, why are you complaining so much? It isn’t so difficult to find what you are looking for. You only have to visit any European capital and participate in one of the funniest flashmobs!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, don’t worry! It’s not a sect, or a new discotheque, neither is it a new festival. A Flashmob is an action organized and carried out by a huge number of persons. This group meets spontaneously at a public place and carries out unusual things. After some minutes the mob dissolves very quickly and it seems as if nothing had happened. These actions are organized previously via Internet. The majority of them have only one aim: pure entertainment.

flashmobs

The idea goes back to the publication of the book “Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution” written by the sociologist Howard Rheingold in 2002. This book talks about the next generation using new technologies for a kind of self-organization. This was one of the principal reasons for the foundation of the first website in 2003 which organizes those collective actions.

The history of Flashmobs is very simple, but very funny. During the last years, uncountable group actions were organized around the world which caused great sensation. The first successful flashmob took place in New York in 2002. More than 100 people went to the store Macy´s and stood around a quite expensive rug. They told the sales assistants that they lived together in a warehouse and that they are searching for a “love rug”, but that they only made their decisions as a group. You can imagine that this action caused a lot of confusion and laughter.

However, flashmobs aren´t only organized in the country of the American dream, they also arrived to Europe. In uncountable European capitals they have already organized creative flashmobs, which make it possible for you to escape just for a moment from your everyday life. So, for example, a huge pillow-fight broke out in the very centre of Barcelona; or hundreds of passer-bys stopped moving suddenly and froze for a moment in time on the famous Alexander Platz in Berlin, then after five minutes they continued walking as if nothing had happened. Then there was Rome, where an uncountable number of people went to a bookstore asking for books that had never been written or published, or in Paris, where more than 7.500 persons organized a spontaneous dinner in white just next to the Arc de Triomphe…

First the flashmobs were just funny actions without any sense or meaning. But nowadays they are used by different social and political movements which have only one aim: to cause sensation in regard to a particular problem and to send their own message to the public. There is no better or more creative method than this idea by our new generation and the new technologies that we possess.

If you want to participate in one of the flashmobs in European capitals, then look it up on the internet. Why don’t you combine a freaky event with an unforgettable stay in Berlin? Germany’s capital will captivate you with its many monuments, museums and fascinating places full of cultural and historical importance. Berlin offers you as well a very special and enchanting atmosphere. Rent apartments in Berlin: the best alternative for having a cheap and comfortable accommodation during your holidays. So, do you want to try it?

The idea of speed dating itself is not new, and definitely not unique to the city of Berlin. The process is quite simple: singles register for local events in order to meet potential soul mates. All kinds of themes, age limits or sexual orientation are associated with the event which allows singles to attend the night that best suits them.

speed-dating-berlin

Speed dating Berlin-style almost certainly leads to Coffee Connection, a high class coffee house that has long since been a staple in the Berlin night life scene. Although it is not unusual for coffee houses to remain open until late, this particular location does not limit itself to coffee and snacks; full menu includes sandwiches, antipasto, beer, and an extensive wine menu which have made it a favourite among speed dating organizers throughout the city.

Of course, the Berlin night life would not be complete without the many Berlin nightclubs! This is your chance to hold a second date if you’re up for a long night with a new ‘friend’! Among the best places to go out, we must mention the Haifisch Bar which features sushi, live music, and is located in Berlin’s famous Kreuzberg, and the Sage Club, which is well known for its three dance floors. The ambience is not formal but still quite classy, and locals have long since considered these the premier addresses for cutting loose after a long day of work.

But Berlin wouldn’t be the extraordinary city we know it to be if it didn’t have “something more”. That is why Berlin is one of the top cities in Europe for Gay Speed Dating. Many websites and bars organise gay & lesbian speed dating in the German capital. The concept is the same as regular speed dating except girls meets other girls and guys meet, well, other guys!

The gay community is well integrated in Germany which explains the popularity of gay speed dating in Goethe’s nation. So what are you waiting for? Gay friends, straight friends, it’s time to go out and meet people. I can’t promise you a soul mate but I guarantee loads of fun and new friends at the end of the day.
