‘Houston, we have a problem!’ Hollywood is flooding us with its high budget productions full of all the megastar actors, who are either members of a sect or spend all their money on cosmetic operations. The American film industry is flooding us with its super movies and special effects and it appears that breath-taking explosions of big buildings or spectacular highway pursuits are more important than offering the spectator a good and meaningful story. Do you want to liberate us from this disaster? Why not participate in the 48 Hour Film Project in Berlin and enjoy really good films!

Between the 17th and 19th of July, the German capital is celebrating the third edition of this international and well known 48 Hour Film Project. It’s one of the most important events in the world of cinema which takes place in numerous cities throughout the world, like Miami, New York, Barcelona, Paris, London and Sydney etc. This special event offers the different film teams, cinema fans, actors, professionals or just talented amateurs the possibility to shoot their own short film in only 48 hours. Just before the contest starts, they will give you the topic, characters and one line of dialogue which have to appear in your film. During two short days, the teams have to write their screenplay, shoot the different scenes and cut them into a creative short film. As you can see, an exciting weekend full of adrenalin, creativity and ideas is waiting for you!
After the intensive 48 hours, they present the short films to an official jury represented by important personalities from the film industry. Besides, various prizes will be awarded in different categories. As a grand finale the best short film will have the possibility of participating in the international contest of the 48 Hour Film Project. This event can be a springboard for your career.
The idea for the 48 Hour Film Project comes from the USA in the year of 2001. At that time Mark Ruppert asked himself if it would be possible to shoot a film in only 48 hours and if the result would even be watchable. The answer was so impressive that in the eight following years more than 150 successful contests have taken place in all parts of the world. The organizers aim to encourage all cinema addicts or amateur film-makers to create their own audiovisual productions. The contests offer the participants the possibility of getting some attention from the film industry with their short films. Moreover, the intercultural and social aspects as well as the importance of teamwork are key ideas of this project.
Come on, take your camera, computer or video editing program and go to Berlin and participate in the 48 Hour Film Project. Why don’t you combine this special event with a spectacular discovery trip of Berlin, one of the most important and enchanting European cities? Rent the best apartments in Berlin and submerge yourself in the world of creativity. 3, 2, 1 ACTION!
